STEM Programs for 7-9 years

MakersLoft offers Scratch Coding Courses, Creative Building and Junior Robotics for this age group to teach children Science, Technology, Engineering & Math (STEM) subjects in a practical and fun way. Learning-by-doing helps to establish a deep understanding of fundamental concepts.

Children are the most creative people on Earth! However, as they grow, there is a systematic decline in creativity. Our courses develop creative mind-set in children, that they will carry through the years. Our programs develop creativity, logical thinking, reasoning, problem solving, communication, vocabulary, story telling, abstract and critical thinking skills.

Scratch Coding

Why do children need to learn coding?

In this age of technology, Coding is a skill that is becoming as important as reading and writing.  Learning to code develops in children the ability to solve problems, think analytically and logically. Coding uses the same part of the brain as Maths - logical thinking. So a child who is good in maths, will be be good in  coding and vice-versa.

In this course, kids will learn computing concepts, such as sequences, iteration, conditionals, variables and data structures. They will develop problem-solving and project-design skills, such as reasoning logically, debugging problems, developing ideas from initial conception to completed project, and sustaining focus. All in a fun way, by making presentations, stories, games and animated movies. Their projects will be saved online, so they can share with anyone.

COURSE DURATION: 16 sessions of 1 hour each. Total 3 levels of 16 sessions each.

You might have purchased a bunch of building blocks sets for your child, and they probably already spend hours building with it. While the instructions that come with building blocks sets are good to build specific model, they don't teach how to build with one's own ideas.

In this course, we teach children a broad range of building blocks  skills and techniques, using which they can build from their own imagination. They learn:

  • Building techniques and hacks used by top building blocks designers
  • They learn Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths concepts like gears, simple machines etc.
  • They learn important design concepts – usage of colour, pattern, symmetry, aesthetics, scale, visualizing, story telling
  • It breaks their typical building style and introduces them to multiple new ways of building

Students should have a basic variety of
building blocks at home to do this course.

COURSE DURATION: 16 sessions of 1 hour each. Total 3 levels of 16 sessions each.

Creative Building

Sow the seeds of "love for Science & Maths" in your child with Movable Machines course. Once children start to make movable models they will continue to be inclined in STEM subjects like engineering, robotics etc. In this course children will learn from the very basics about gears, axles, different connectors. They will learn about 6 simple machines.

They will make models like Elevator, Dancing bird, Merry-go-round, Catapult, Crazy floors, Go carts, Make a cartoon, Simple machine to move, Make a mechanical toy, Repeat pattern, Dancing bird, Paper crimper, sea-saw, Crane, Wind mill, Swing, Rubber band Power car, hand blender and more.

What parts are required for this course?

A Movable Machines kit is required for this course. Contact us at +91-6290126203 to purchase kit and to enrol your child in the class.

Programmable Bricks

Why do children need to learn Robotics at this age?

Robotics is simply the most fun way to teach Science, Maths and Computers. When children learn how to build Robots and program them to do tasks, they are learning fundamental concepts of Physics, Maths and Digital Literacy, all in a fun and practical way. Robotics goes beyond traditional education curriculum in teaching about modern technology like motors, sensors etc. that are present all around us in today's age. One should not need to wait to be an engineer to learn about these.

In this course, children will make their first Robot, they will program it to perform simple tasks like following a line, detecting obstacles, picking and placing objects, navigating autonomously and more.

A Programmable Bricks kit is required for this course. Contact us at +91-6290126203 to purchase kit.

COURSE DURATION: 16 sessions of 1 hour each. Total 4 levels of 16 sessions each.

Bhavna Agarwal, Mother of Krishnav, 9 years old

My son Krishav has really benefitted from his Coding classes at Makers loft. He has been doing the classes since a few months now and I have seen how his imagination has grown and he has become very comfortable with working on the computer. He looks forward to the classes as the faculty is very friendly & helpful. Thank you MakersLoft.

Sonia Saraf, Mother of Abhay Saraf, 9 years

I enrolled my son, a student of Don Bosco, Park Circus, with MakersLoft right at the onset of lockdown in Kolkata, in Scratch Coding classes. Abhay has absolutely loved his classes and the credit for it goes not only to the curriculum but also to the extremely dedicated and knowledgeable faculty.

In Abhay's words "Rijit Sir is extremely patient with me, solves all my problems, he is never glum, has a delightful sense of humour and makes the classes very interesting." Needless to say, I am extremely happy with MakersLoft's  programs and curriculum.
